Define job type categories to classify your work orders (such as HVAC, Plumbing, or Electrical) and create secondary statuses for custom workflow tracking beyond the standard open/closed lifecycle.
Before you start:
- You must be logged in as an administrator.
How to Access
- Job Types: Navigate to Manage Lists → Job Types.
- Secondary Statuses: Navigate to Manage Lists → Secondary Status.
Job Types
Job types categorize your work orders so you can filter, sort, and report on them. Every work order is assigned a job type when it is created.
Adding a Job Type
- Click Create Job Type in the toolbar.
- Enter a Name for the job type (for example, "Emergency Repair", "Routine Maintenance", "Installation", or "Inspection").
- Click Save.
Result: The job type appears in the dropdown when creating or editing work orders.
Editing and Deleting Job Types
- Click the Edit button on a job type row to update its name.
- Click the Delete button to remove a job type that is no longer needed.
Tip: Create job types that match how your business categorizes work. For example, an HVAC company might use "AC Repair", "Heating Repair", "New Installation", and "Preventive Maintenance". This makes filtering and reporting much more useful.
Secondary Statuses
Work orders in FieldPromax have a primary status (Open, Closed). Secondary statuses add an additional layer of tracking for your internal workflow. For example, you might track whether a work order is "Waiting for Parts", "Customer Callback Required", or "Pending Approval".
Adding a Secondary Status
- Navigate to Manage Lists → Secondary Status.
- Click Create Secondary Status.
- Enter a Name for the status (for example, "Waiting for Parts").
- Click Save.
Result: The secondary status is available on work orders. Your team can set it to track where each work order is in your custom workflow.
Using Secondary Statuses
When editing a work order, you can assign a secondary status in addition to the primary status. This lets you filter work orders by their current stage. For example, you could filter to see all work orders in "Waiting for Parts" status to follow up on supply orders.
